The past week or two I’ve been happily reading and responding to the goals of people who want to join the 6-month coaching program I’m getting ready to launch.
The range of topics is wide and I am flush with ideas for those who wish to take part. Today I thought I’d share some behind-the-scenes about the cost of the program.
Speaking of behind-the-scenes, below is a photo of my view as I type right now. A large meditating frog (given to me by a dear client years ago) sits to the right of my computer. His silly, relaxed manner reminds me I can be the same. He never judges me, and I never judge him. We are pals.
Pricing a service like coaching is not unlike pricing a painting, I suspect. How do you determine its value and who gets to decide? Over the years, I’ve priced my coaching low, I’ve priced it high and mid-range. With this upcoming program, I’ve been committed to finding a price that I know is, hands down, the right one. This past week, the details came to me with clarity.
What helped was connecting with so many of you about your goals. I see myself in many of your stories and it’s lovely to be surrounded by kindred spirits.
What so many of us share is a yearning to be comfortable in our lives and our own skins. To feel good, be happy and to contribute to the world in a way that authentically expresses who we really are. (A prospect that is also terrifying at the start.)
Many of us have a dream calling us forward, in some cases for years now. We can’t stop thinking about a situation we’d love to be living, but aren’t yet. Energetically, it teases us across a deep chasm of the unknown. When we allow ourselves to peek, we feel exhilarated by its potential while simultaneously unnerved by the facts; we don’t have a clue how to get from here to there.
The decision to throw ourselves into that journey thrills me.
My comfort zone – what the physics of me were designed to do – is to stand with another in their greatest unknown and walk through it with them; towards the version of themselves that beckons from the other side. As we go, we can highlight the strength and courage it takes and relish each small, significant step through that abyss.
My role is easy as I have utter confidence in our ability to traverse the gap between us and our dreams; I understand how and why it all eventually works out. So naturally, I can’t wait to walk through the unknowns with a remarkable, brave group of people. I want to set a pricing structure that will both honour the value of what I’ll be bringing while meeting each person where they are at financially. So here’s where it’s at.
If I was offering this 6-month program without it being part of my PhD research, I’d price it at $159USD/month. In fact, if anyone wants to join the program without being part of the research study data, that’s an option at this price.
But since the program will help me measure the success of my coaching approach, I want to express my appreciation to those who help me in that way. A 50% discount seems in order. Therefore, the price of the program will be $79USD/month. I hope most interested members will see that as fair and reasonable and can afford it.
However. I also understand that some members won’t be in a position to afford $79/month. If you’re in that situation, I’ll offer a second option of $33USD/month. 33 is one of my favorite numbers, that why. It’s also the number of transformation, apparently.
When the registration links become available, then, you’ll simply choose the price point you can afford. You won’t have to explain your choice to me. Whether you choose the $79 or the $33 monthly fee, you’ll enter the same program.
In case that still doesn’t cover your situation, I’ll reserve place for two people to attend for $0. For free. To ensure that those spots are only filled by those who cannot take part otherwise, anyone who requests a free spot (but isn’t chosen) cannot later sign up through one of the paid options.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. I hope to kick the program off within the next 6-8 weeks. Fingers crossed, but no promises.
